West Virginia Bigfoot & Dogman Encounters
West Virginia's back roads and hollow ridgelines have produced some of the most compelling creature encounters on record. Route 20 in particular runs through terrain that has been the site of unexplained sightings for decades. What Donna saw there one night falls into a category most people don't have a word for.

IT STOOD UP ON TWO LEGS
Donna — Route 20, West Virginia
Donna was driving Route 20 late at night. Empty road, no other cars. She'd driven that stretch dozens of times. She knew the landmarks, the curves, the way the headlights caught the guardrail.
She saw it at the edge of the road first. Low to the ground. She thought deer.
She slowed. It didn't move the way deer move.
It was crouched — that's the only word she uses. Not curled, not lying down. Crouched, like something resting on its haunches, aware it was being watched.
She stopped the car. She doesn't know why she stopped. Later she said it felt like the right thing to do, like pulling over for an emergency vehicle.
It turned its head toward the headlights. The face wasn't a deer's face. It wasn't a bear's face. It was longer than a bear's, broader across the brow. The eyes caught the light in a way that made her stomach drop.
She sat there. It sat there. Ten seconds. Maybe twenty. She lost track of counting.
It shifted its weight to one side — a deliberate movement, not a startled one. The kind of movement that comes before standing.
She put the car in drive.
That's when it stood up.
