Eight immersive first-person fiction pieces — a fictional witness at Salt Fork State Park in Ohio who came through a tree line and stopped dead. A fictional witness on Route 20 in West Virginia who watched something rise up on two legs at the roadside. Two fictional witnesses in Southern Ohio who pulled over on a forest road and saw something that made them drive without speaking for forty minutes. A hiker near Minerva, Ohio who stepped off the trail to investigate a sound — and found something watching him from behind a tree. A hunter named Roland, sitting in his tree stand, who had a Sasquatch perfectly in his rifle scope — and watched it vanish in an instant. A solo hiker named Marcus, three days into a section hike on the Appalachian Trail at 5,200 feet, tracked parallel through the hemlock ridge for close to a mile — and turned around. And James, hiking solo in October on the Hoh River Trail in the Olympic Peninsula, Washington — who found two Sitka spruce bent and woven together, smelled something wrong, heard something moving through the canopy above him at sixty feet, and stopped. Three days into a solo section hike at 5,200 feet. Something moved through the trees parallel to the trail for close to a mile — matching his pace, stopping when he stopped. When he finally turned around, it was standing between two hemlocks. Eight feet tall. Completely still.
